Through The Walls

Sometimes she can hear her sister crying through walls

She doesn’t know why she’s crying

She doesn’t know why she’s so loud.

It’s 3 am.

When morning comes, they do not confront;

Too afraid to know if she hears her

Too afraid to let her know that she does.

They let it go,

Unspoken.

The walls will keep the secret

The walls never tell.
