Tola Rotimi was born and raised in Lagos, Nigeria. A graduate of the Iowa Writers Workshop, she currently lives in Iowa City where she is an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Creative Writing. In 2016, she was named one of Iowa's most promising emerging writers by The Des Moines Register. She is working on her first novel.
