MJ Kaufman is queer, trans Jewish playwright living in Brooklyn/Lenapehoking. They hold an MFA from Yale School of Drama and were a 2019 MacDowell Colony Fellow, and a 2022 Lambda Literary Award finalist. As a television-writer they have written for Netflix. Currently, they are an Assistant Professor of Dramatic Writing at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts. Exile in Brooklyn is their first novel.
