Free Comic Book Day (2016): TOP 5 Books to Look For

This year marks the 15th Anniversary of Free Comic Book Day (FCBD)! And boy are we excited about all the new comics coming out in about two weeks, on May 7th, 2016!

This year, not only do we have a lot of cool comics from the Big 2, along with Valiant, Image, and a few other “more established” publishers, but we also have a lot more indies coming out. And I have to say that some of those indie titles look pretty darn interesting. Heck, a lot of them could potentially make it to the silver screen in the future!

There are about 50 FREE comic books coming out on FBCD, and I am going to talk about the TOP 5, I think has the most investment and speculation potential in the future. All 5 of these comics also look really good, with great stories, and I am most pumped about these 5 titles. So, without further a due … here are the TOP 5 Comic Books to look out for, in this year’s FCBD:

1. CIVIL WAR II #1!!! or AVENGERS #1 FCBD 2016 EDITION (Publisher: MARVEL COMICS)

The reason why this book is at the top of the list is because not only does this book set the precedence for the new epic Marvel storyline: Civil War II, but this book also introduces a new character!Details about the new character has been kept under wraps. We don’t know if it’s a she or a he, hero or villain, no details as of yet. But, do pick this book up, and try to get as many pristine conditioned books as you can!

2. SUICIDE SQUAD #1 FCBD 2016 EDITION (Publisher: DC)

This is the FCBD edition of the New 52 Suicide Squad #1, which is currently selling way above cover price everywhere. And if you haven’t already heard, there’s a movie coming out for this villainous team! The Harley Quinn cover sure looks good. I am certain Harley is going to play a huge role in the future of DC Comics. She is currently one of the main stars in the DC Universe, and she will definitely be a big star in the upcoming movie. Miss Quinn, who is played by Margot Robbie…who is smokin’ HAWT!!! If there’s a low print run for this FBCD book, then it could be worth something. Again, grab as many mint condition books as you can.

3. VALIANT 4001 A.D. SPECIAL FCBD 2016 EDITION (Publisher: VALIANT ENTERTAINMENT)

Introduction to the future of Valiant Comics. The story takes place in New Japan, which is a new world set in the Valiant Universe. Pick this book up to discover this new place and for a few other surprises!

4. CAPTAIN AMERICA #1 FCBD 2016 EDITION (Publisher: MARVEL COMICS)

First comic book appearance of Captain America’s (Steve Rogers) new costume/uniform. Also the prelude to a major Marvel storyline coming out later in the year, DEAD NO MORE!

5. CON MAN`S SPECTRUM FCBD 2016 EDITION (Publisher: AUTOMATIC PICTURES)

On top of the interesting Sci-Fi story, which involves human civilization fighting a big war against aliens, the publisher AUTOMATIC PICTURES, is well-connected with the film and entertainment industry. The company was founded by Frank Beddor, a Hollywood-based writer & producer. Automatic Pictures’ film credits include There’s Something About Mary (1998), Wicked (1998) and the upcoming Sony Sci-Fi title: The Juliet. This book is a must-have, and you should absolutely keep your eye on this publisher.
