Fiction Master Class: The Art of Character

This one-day generative master class with award-winning novelist Tanwi Nandini Islam will focus on the art of character. Bring your ideas (and a writing utensil), and leave with the start of your next short story or novel. Course fees include a one hour reception—with wine and snacks!—and a chance to ask Tanwi questions about the writing life in a open and encouraging environment.

Testimonials

"I hoped to find a space to grow in my fiction writing that was both safe and challenging. Tanwi created this space for each individual in the class, providing thoughtful and comprehensive feedback for our work at multiple points during the workshop."

"Tanwi Nandini Islam makes waves with her debut novel, which traverses from Bangaldesh to Brooklyn exploring the secrets of three young women."

TIME MAGAZINE

"A Brooklyn-by-way-of-Bangladesh ROYAL TENENBAUMS. A pot-tinged, PTSD Muslim SESAME STREET. With sex. Hallucinations, hijabs and handlebars on the always-busy Atlantic Avenue. The New York sense of place in BRIGHT LINES rivals the recent memory of Teju Cole’s OPEN CITY."

THE DENVER POST

"Tanwi Nandini Islam’s debut novel BRIGHT LINES is a robust, multi-voiced story spanning from Brooklyn to Bangladesh and back; she introduces us to South Asian American characters we’ve never seen before."

Neelanjana Banerjee LOS ANGELES REVIEW OF BOOKS

"The joys of this book are many, and I loved in particular the complexity of its characters and the beauty of its landscape."
