6-Week Fiction Workshop: Revise & Repeat

notify me when this class returns
Sold Out

Writing is only half the battle. Revision is the rest.

In this workshop, we'll read selected published fiction and student work as writers, identify common elements of storytelling craft—including structure, chronology, character, point of view, and narrative voice—and discuss how to apply these strategies in producing and editing your own work. We'll give consideration to what you want to say in your work, as well as how you say it. You will have a clearer sense of how to move forward in your writing and revision process.

During this six-week intensive workshop, each student will workshop twice and have one individual meeting with the instructor.

CLASS TAKEAWAYS

- Intensive peer and instructor feedback on two fiction submissions

- One private conference with the instructor to discuss your writing style, goals, and areas for improvement

- Access to a nurturing community of writers and readers

- A greater understanding of craft issues, storytelling tools, and how to revise your work

- More confidence as a writer and editor, on and off the page

PUBLISHERS WEEKLY starred review

"There was a time I would have called Lisa Ko’s novel beautifully written, ambitious and moving, and all of that is true, but it’s more than that now: if you want to understand a forgotten and essential part of the world we live in, THE LEAVERS is required reading."
