As a Nurse and Writer, I Work Toward a Culture of Care
Despite how fruitless both nursing and writing can feel, I choose to engage with both.
Mary Ann Thomas is the brown queer daughter of Indian immigrant parents, a travel nurse, bike tourist, and writer. She has bicycled over 10,000 miles in the last five years. Most recently, she biked across India from the Himalayas to Kerala, the state where her family is from. Her work has been published in The Rumpus, Autostraddle, She Explores, and Panorama: The Journal of Intelligent Travel, among other journals. She has been featured on several podcasts, including The Dirtbag Diaries, Musafir Stories, and The Ethical Traveler.
